Montrose Animal Shelter Shows Off Major Expansion

Montrose-The City of Montrose is celebrating the completion of a major animal shelter expansion project. 2,500 animals visit the shelter a year. Friday, they opened a new $300,000 expansion.

Officials say this will allow the animals to be healthier and have a better chance of being adopted, not euthanized. The animal shelter contains holding rooms for diseased animals, as well as lost ones.

An adoption area, a medical examination room, and the ability to sterilize kennels and cages every day to prevent cross contamination between animals are just some of the features.

In honor of the grand opening, the first ten pets adopted were half price and spay or nuetering services were free.

The Montrose Animal Protection Agency donated $50,000 for the shelter's expansion.
