Business Study Shows Mesa County Economy Healthy

The Listening to Business Program released the results of a study Wednesday that shows the business climate in Mesa County is healthy. The survey showed 75% of the interviewed companies are planning to expand within the next three years. 95% of the companies have made or will make considerable investments in the community within a five year span.

Management perceptions of the community's strengths and weaknesses show they are confident in the quality of life, climate, and location. The perceived weaknesses are inefficiency of local planning agencies, lack of services available to manufacturers, and work force training and recruitment issues.

The Listening to Business Program is a one year pilot project being conducted by the Ed Partners, which is a group of public and private organizations in Mesa County.

Over the past ten months the program interviewed 100 primary employers, which are businesses that receive most of their income from outside the community.
