Denver (AP) Senator Ken Salazar is now urging President Bush to consider two Coloradans, a Republican and a Democrat,to replace Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'connor. Earlier this week salazar joined the group supporting the nomination of State Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Love Kourlis, a Republican.
Today he also recommended 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Carlos Lucero, a Democrat appointed by President Clinton. Salazar says Bush should consider women and people of color for the nomination and pick someone who would be acceptable to Senate Republicans and Democrats.
Colorado's other Senator, Wayne Allard, hasn't asked the White House to look at anyone in particular, but just to consider naming someone who has an understanding of western issues.
