Debeque-Crews worked to extinguish two separate brush fires Friday along Interstate 70 near Debeque. One fire along I-70 at mile marker 60, the other at mile marker 65 in Debeque. That fire climbed the hill in rocky terrain and took more intense manpower to extinguish.
Crews from Plateau Valley, Debeque, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Parachute Fire Department and the Bureau of Land Management, assisted with both fires.
They started at around noon and were bout by 2:30 p.m. Friday, officials weren't sure what caused the fires to start, but they both burned about a half an acre.
