Six Homes Threatened By Wildfire Burning Near Mesa Verde

Cortez (AP) Fire officials say a 320 acre wildfire on federal land near Mesa Verde National Park is threatening six homes.
The fire is burning on the Montezuma–La Plata County line in
southern Colorado.

Montezuma County Sheriff Gerald Wallace says the fire burned
quickly after being ignited last night amid dry lightning.

Durango Interagency Fire Dispatch Spokeswoman Pamella Wilson
says three heavy air tankers, two helicopters, and one
single–engine air tanker are on the scene helping about 40
firefighters on the ground.
