Encana Oil And Gas USA Proposes 162 New Wells On BLM Land

Glenwood Springs (AP) Plans for 162 new gas wells on Bureau of Land Management acreage have prompted a call for public comment on the proposed projects. Denver–based Eencana Oil and Gas U.S.A. wants to drill the wells on property in Garfield County.
The company is a subsidiary of Calgary, Alberta–based Encana
Corporation.

The proposal for 97 wells about 15 miles south of Rifle is
dubbed the Gant Gulch Project. The plan for 65 wells about
seven miles east of Debeque is called the Orchard Mesa Unit.

B.L.M. Natural Resource Specialist Jim Byers says roads would
need to be built in both areas, but insists the agency will work
with landowners to finalize the road plans.

The B.L.M. is seeking public comment before the completion of
environmental reviews on Encana's proposals.
