Grand Junction-Hot weather and dry conditions in Mesa County are creating extreme fire danger. In response, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Land Management have issued a fire ban effective after midnight, Tuesday night.
The ban prohibits the burning of grass, wood and fireworks, as well as carelessly getting rid of matches or cigarettes. Campfires are only allowed in designated areas with fire grates.
The ban does not include charcoal or gas grills used at home. More restrictions could come in the future if high temperatures and low humidity continue.
