Colorado Unemployment Rate Drops To 4.9 Percent
Denver (AP) Nearly every job category in Colorado experienced growth during the month of june, pulling the state's unemployment rate down to 4.9%. That compares with 5.3% in May, and 5.5% June, 2004. State Labor Economist Joe Winter calls the new figure a "significant drop" in the unemployment rate, one that demonstrates an improvement in the economy.
Only two sectors failed to see growth last month: trade,
transportation and utilities, which lost 500 jobs due to seasonal adjustments; and manufacturing, which was flat.
The most new jobs came in the area of professional and business services, which added 2,700 positions. Winter says the state's pattern is closely following the national economy.
