Palisade Working On New Growth Plan, Cash Raised For Study

Not since 1981 has the town of Palisade updated its Comprehensive Growth Plan, but with the help of a state grant, the town is planning to hire a consultant to complete the process. The Comprehensive Plan or Land Use Plan is a blueprint for the community for years to come.

Town Administrator Tina Darrah says with the water park scheduled to open on the river spring of 2007, and more developers showing interest in the area, the town is very much in need of a new plan.

The town recently applied for a $50,000 grant through the Department of Local Affairs Energy and Mineral Impact Funds. The advisory committee gave unanimous approval. The town will put up the remaining $50,000 it will cost to hire a consultant and develop the plan.

Once the land use consultant is hired residents of Palisade will be asked to give their input on what Palisade will look like in the future.
