Saturday friends and family members gathered at Bea Underwood Elementary School in Battlement Mesa to pay tribute to Taylor DeMarco. More than 60 people came to pay their respects to the 9–year–old whose life was tragically cut short this week. DeMarco was shot and killed by his 14–year–old friend while playing at another friend's house. Those who knew DeMarco say he loved his family and had a real passion for skateboarding. Taylor's alleged killer is being held in the Grand Mesa Youth Detention Center in Grand Junction while awaiting his next court appearance set for August 24th. The Garfield County District Attorney is still trying to determine what he'll be charged with and if he'll be charged as an adult.
