A police officer shot and killed a man Saturday night in Commerce City, Colorado. Officials have identified the suspect as 24 year–old Ivan Ruiz of Aurora. Officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run and noticed a man running away from the scene. The officer began chasing him when the suspect allegedly turned and slashed his arm with a knife. The officer then fired one shot striking the man. Ruiz was transported to Denver Health Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The shooting is being investigated by the Adams County Critical Incident Team.
