Businessman in Ouray say tourism is sparking the small Western Slope town during these summer months of 2005. Ouray, known as the Switzerland of America, has a year–round population of about 800. However, that number swells during the summer.
According to the Ouray Chamber of Commerce, tourism is up slightly from a year ago, and merchants say it's encouraging, because despite the fact that there are now more winter activities available, it's the summer dollars that keep the town rolling.
