Some programs that feed the elderly poor are suffering on the Front Range. There are simply too many people in need and not enough money to help them. Although this is not the case for Gray Gourmet in the Grand Valley, it could be one day.
Gray Gourmet Project Supervisor Sharon Meicklejohn says recent state budget cuts have taken a toll on the organization, but unlike similar programs in the same situation, they have'nt had to cut back on the services they provide.
However, gas prices are beginning to impact the organization's already limited budget.
Last year Gray Gourmet served more than 100,000 meals to senior citizens.
