Grand Junction Police Use Taser In Assault Arrest

A Grand Junction Police Officer uses a Taser gun to help control a man who became unruly, Tuesday night. The incident happened at 2812 North Avenue. An officer approached a man who appeared to be setting off bottle rockets.

Police reports say Jonathan Davis, 24 of Grand Junction, tried to run away. He then turned around and threw a beer bottle at the officer. The bottle missed, but a foot chase began. When the officer was within 10 feet he deployed his Taser gun, which caused Davis to fall to the ground.

A struggle continued as Davis tried to kick the officer and get away. More assistance arrived and Davis was taken to the hospital and later booked into jail.

He faces numerous charges, including 2nd degree assault, a parole violation, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer.
