There was a record number of returns this year for the Great Colorado Payback. Under the program the state has returned $10.1 million dollars in lost or forgotten property to 19,000 people this year.
The program was established to hold property turned over to the
state by financial institutions, insurance companies, and other
businesses until the rightful owners can claim them.
The unclaimed property includes items left to someone in a will
or items left in safety deposit boxes.
