The Colorado Student Assessment Program, or C-SAP test scores are in for Mesa County. The 2005 C-SAP scores show some strong improvements for Mesa County School District 51, but has school administrators concerned about one grade at the high school freshman level.
Last year, C-SAP scores showed large improvements in 9th grade reading and writing, but this year 9th grade scores were down in every category, dropping 5% in reading, 7% in writing, and 1% in math. Palisade and the R–5 High Schools had the two lowest scores in the district.
Rocky Moutain Elementary 5th grade students increased their reading scores from 55% to 64% proficient and above from last year. 5th graders at Columbine Elementary School more than doubled their math scores from last year.
Also, middle schools in District 51 made significant gains in their C-SAP scores from previous years.
More than 1.4 million C-SAP tests were taken across the state this year.
