Gas Leak Closes Highway 330 On The Grand Mesa

A gas leak near Molina temporarily shut down Highway 330 on the Grand Mesa, Tuesday. The leak was reported early in the afternoon by a passerby who said they heard a loud hissing noise.

The Plateau Valley Fire Department and K.N.–Energy units responded. They found a pin–size hole in a 3–inch natural gas line.

Crews hit the isolation valves on the line, which safely contained the leak. Surrounding homes were not evacuated, and although the leak was minor, responding units took no chances.

Highway 330 reopened about an hour after the initial call. There is no threat of environmental damage.
