Denver (AP) Hate-crime charges have not been ruled out against two men faced with first–degree murder charges in the killing of a gay man in Montrose. Assistant District Attorney Mark Adams says the investigation continues into the slaying of 36–year–old Kevin Hale in the southwestern Colorado community.
Twenty–four–year–old Todd Fiske and 21–year–old Adam Hernandez have been charged with murder, robbery and other charges in the case.
Hale's family and friends have said he believed he had been
harassed and physically threatened in recent months because he was gay. Last month, Colorado's hate–crimes law was expanded to include crimes motivated by anti–gay bias.
