Man Dies In Collision On Highway 6 & 50 In Grand Junction

Grand Junction-A man was killed Tuesday afternoon when an S.U.V. collided with a tractor trailer truck in Grand Junction. The accident caused Highway 6 & 50 to be shut down for hours. Grand Junction police say the accident happened as the truck pulled onto Highway 6 and 50 eastbound, with the vehicle traveling in the westbound lane hitting the semi's trailer.

Traffic was diverted for more than two hours on highway 6 & 50 between 24 and G Roads, and while the driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police had not realeased any information concerning the condition of the truck driver, Tuesday afternoon. Investigators were not only trying to find a cause for the crash, but whether any charges should be filed.

The Colorado State Patrol assisted the Grand Junction Police Department in the investigation.

The accident also caused serious traffic delays in the area. Traffic was blocked along Highway 6 & 50 from the Redlands Parkway to Interstate 70.
