Public Input Taken On Future Of Persigo Wastewater Treatment Plant

Wednesday morning the public had a chance to give input at the annual Persigo Meeting with Grand Junction City Councilmembers and Mesa County Commissioners over the boundaries regarding the Persigo Wastewater Treatment Plant. The joint meeting at the Holiday Inn drew a large crowd of interested citizens eagar to discuss the decision to amend the 201 Sewer Service Area.

The plant encompasses both the city and the county, so both councilmembers and commissioners must agree on a solution and provide direction for the operation. This year four areas are requesting to be included in the service sewer area, while one is asking to be excluded.

The Persigo Agreement was signed in 1998 to resolve long–standing tensions regarding city annexation when sewer was provided and established rules for where urban development would occur.
