Democrat Rutt Bridges announced Thursday that he will not run for Governor in 2006. Bridges was in the Grand Valley this week campaigning at the Palisade Sunday Market, but the businessman and think tank founder said he doesn't have the stomach to be an effective politician.
Bridges says he will return his campaign contributions and focus on getting voters to pass two measures this fall aimed at easing limits on state taxing and spending.
Fellow Democrat and former Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter remains in the race and W.S. Representative Bob Beauprez and Marc Holtzman are the Republican candidates.
