The health department has learned that a mosquito pool and a horse have both tested positive for West Nile Virus in Mesa County.

The positive mosquito pool was collected on August third in Grand Junction in an area near Rosevale Road. The horse that tested positive was discovered two days before near Mack. There have only been three human cases of West Nile detected this year in Mesa County.

At this time last year there were 78 human cases.
