Tuesday, U.S. Senator Ken Salazar, (D)-Colorado, will be in Grand Junction to listen to input on health care for veterans in rural areas. With a $1.2 billion dollar budget shortfall this year, the Department of Veterans Affairs has been unable to open any new facilities in rural Colorado.
Earlier this year, Salazar introduced legislation that would alleviate some of these issues. Tuesday, veterans and veterans service organizations, as well as federal and state officials, are invited to speak at the meeting on their needs and concerns.
The hearing is also open to the public. It will be held at the Grand Junction City Hall at 9:30 a.m.
