Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide Following Delta Girl's Death

A ten-year-old girl from Delta was killed after she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle along a highway, Sunday Morning.
The accident happened in the 1100 block of Highway 50. The girl was riding her bike with her mother Lorry Carlson, when they were both struck by a 2005 Pontiac Sunbird.

Both victims were taken to Delta County Memorial Hospital. The 10-year-old died at the hospital. Her mother was transported to Saint Mary's Hospital via a Careflight helicopter. Her condition was unkown late Monday afteroon.

The driver of the vehicle was Richard Hilton, 47 of Pagosa Springs. Hilton was arrested and booked into the Delta County Jail on charges of vehicular homicide and careless driving.
