Authorities Work On Identification Of Four Found Dead Inside Cave

Provo, Utah (AP) A tragic ending to search efforts Thursday
morning to find four people missing in a Provo cave. Provo Police Spokeswoman Karen Mayne says two men and two women have been found dead inside the cave. Authorities say the four went into the cave around 3:00 a.m. today.

Mayne says the four decided to go farther into the cave, where they had to swim through a narrow tunnel of water to get tothe other side. A fifth person stayed behind and called authorities around 6:30 a.m. when the four did not come out of the cave.

Mayne says one of the women probably became trapped because she did not make it out of the water. Mayne says authorities are working on positive identification and notification of families. She says investigators believe two of the people are from Utah County, while authorities aren't sure about the other two.
