After an extensive search, Mesa County Commissioners have chosen someone who will run the Department of Human Services. Wednesday, the comissioners announced they've hired Jim Garrett as the department's Executive Director.
Garret comes to the area from New Port Richie , Florida, where he served as Executive Director of the Early Learning Coalition for Pasco and Hernando Counties.
The news comes after a recent reorganization at the department and the commissioners think he's the right person to move the department forward in a positive direction.
Garret, who has 15 years experience in this field, replaces Tom Papin who left the position in April. Garret begins working for the county on October 1st.
