Following a long Grand Junction Planning Commission meeting Tuesday night, the commission has reached an agreement with the developers of a new shopping center–movie theater complex along the 24 Road Corridor. The code changes were in reference to a new theatre coming to Canyon View Marketplace behind Boston's restaurant.
There were a total of 7 issues the developers and planning commission had to work through, which included issues such as the number of signs the theatre would be allowed to place on their property, height requirements for a roof sign, the size of the building and where dumpsters could be placed. After hours of petitioning the planning commission approved all of the developer's requests.
Next week there will be a special meeting with the planning commission to discuss properties in the Canyon View Marketplace's mixed use zone area. Some property owners are claiming the regulations currently in place for this area are too restrictive and are hindering their ability to sell their properties.
The commission will listen to the concerns in a special meeting next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
