More than two dozens non–profit groups catering to children in the Grand Valley will benefit from the tireless work of the Kiwanis Club. During its weekly meeting Thursday, Kiwanians passed out checks totaling $31,000 to 27 local community groups.
In keeping with tradition of serving the world's children, all the groups receiving money from the Kiwanis Club help young people. The money comes from the club's annual pancake breakfast held each year in May. This year's was the biggest to date, allowing the Kiwanis Club to give back even more to the community.
In addition to the $31,000 given out, the Kiwanis Club has also awarded nearly $20,000 in various scholarships for children.
