Another Prosecutor Quits Embattled District Attorney's Office

Glenwood Springs (AP) Another prosecutor has resigned
from the Ninth Judicial District in the Western Colorado mountains, where District Attorney Colleen Truden faces a recall drive.

In a letter of resignation submitted Thursday, Deputy District Attorney Katherine Steers accuses Truden of fostering and promoting a "hostile work environment." She suggests that Attorney General John Suthers step in and take over the office. Truden hasn't been reached for comment.

Steers was assigned to Garfield County Court in Glenwood Springs and had been on the job six months. She's at least the seventh prosecutor to resign from the Ninth District since Truden took office this year.

The district covers Garfield, Pitkin and Rio Blanco Counties and includes the towns of Glenwood Springs, Aspen and Meeker.
