With more people expected to be traveling on Colorado roadways this Labor Day Weekend law enforcement agencies across the state are cracking down on drunk drivers. The Colorado State Patrol is doubling the number of state troopers usually on the road ways starting Friday at 6:00 p.m and running through Monday at midnight.
The Colorado State Patrol, Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Grand Junction Police Department and the Debeque Marshalls will all be working together to set up sobriety checkpoints to keep drunk drivers off the roads in Mesa County.
Last year, the "Heat is on" campaign made 420 D.U.I. arrests during the Labor Day Weekend.
