Grand Valley Woman Dies In Motorcycle Accident On Highway 6&50

A Fruita woman is dead following a motorcycle accident in Mesa County Thursday morning. Megan Voorhees, 24, was traveling west on Highway 6 & 50 near 21 Road when she apparently lost control and flipped her motorcycle. Witnesses say the women stopped suddenly and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Voorhees was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where she died as a result of her injuries. The Grand Junction Police Department is trying to figure out what caused the crash.

Police say the Voorhees was wearing a helmet at the time, however she did sustain a serious head injury. The Mesa County coroner will determine if it was the cause of death.
