A police pursuit through Palisade and Clifton doesn't end well for a Grand Junction man who's now behind bars. After the driver eluded authorities in Garfield County the Colorado State Patrol tried to pull the driver over on Interstate 70 near Cameo after a license plate check revealed that either the plates or vehicle, a gold Nissan, were stolen. However troopers say the suspect identified as 37-year-old Christopher Gallegos sped up and led authorities through Palisade, trying twice to run troopers off the road. Gallegos was finally cornered in a residential area of Clifton and still allegedly tried to ram two more state patrol vehicles before giving up. Police say it technically was not a high–speed pursuit as speeds never topped 75 miles per hour. Gallegos is facing several charges including 1st degree assault on a peace officer, and felony eluding.
