Cortez (AP) Hurricane Katrina may delay the commissioning of a navy ship named in honor of Mesa Verde National Park. The U.S.S. Mesa Verde was being built in Mississippi and sustained minor damage in the hurricane.
A total damage assessment to the shipyard will have to be done before officials decide if the vessel can be commissioned on schedule next spring.
That's when the park will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
