A routine check of passengers at Grand Junction's bus station Tuesday leads to a major seizure of illegal drugs. Investigators with the Western Colorado Drug Task Force arrested two men after a search showed they concealed several different drugs on their bodies.
The two people were on a Greyhound bus that stopped in downtown Grand Junction. Dominique Rucker and Andrene Clemons were on a bus from Las Vegas to Indiana when the bus was boarded during a routine search. Rucker consented to a pat down search. Police say one was carrying two concealed packages taped to his ankle.
When Clemons was searched a package was noticed sticking out of his pants and a baggie of marijuana was found in his pocket. The two men were carrying a substantial amount of drugs, including 2.7 pounds of cocaine, more than one–half pound of methamphetamine and nearly an ounce of marijuana.
Clemons resisted arrest and tried to run, but was caught a block away on Colorado Avenue.
Both men are in custody in the Mesa County Jail in connection with a number of drug–related felony charges.
