Joint Budget Committee Tours Mesa County, Meet With Community Leaders

Members of the Colorado legislature's Joint Budget Committee toured Mesa County Monday to get a first–hand look at where some of the state's money is spent. The Joint Budget Committee spent the day at various locations in the Grand Valley. It's the first of two days here in meetings with local administrators and community leaders.

The Joint Budget Committee is a bi–partisan panel composed of members of the Colorado State Senate and House of Representatives. Teir duty is to set the tone for the legislature's budget proposals for the coming year.

Tomorrow they will touring various projects on the Western Slope. Earlier Monday, members learned of the importance of the insectory in Palisade to the farmers on the Western Slope.

A stop is also made at the Colorado West Inpatient Mental Health Facility being constructed in Grand Junction before heading to St. Mary's Hospital.

Members of the Joint Budget Committee say it's important at times to get away from the Statehouse.

Tomorrow the committee visits the division of youth corrections in grand junction...
the veteran's cemetery and the grand junction regional center before a meeting at mesa state college...
later the group will tour the rifle correctional center on their way back to denver...
