It's almost time for flu season and flu vaccines are starting to arrive in Grand Junction. Mesa County Health Department officials say this year there should be enough vaccine for everyone that would like a flu shot. The health department is not anticipating the shortage they have had in the past.
There can be complications with the flu that may lead to death.
High risk people that may see complications are people aged 65 years or older, infants and people who already have autoimmune diseases.
This year there is one more group that will be considered high risk. the evacuees from Hurricane Katrina. Evacuees from the hurricane are considered in the group and should get a flu shot.
The first round of vaccinations will be available October 7th. Even though there should be plenty to go around the first flu clinics will be reserved for those that are high risk.
