A Grand Valley man will face a long prison sentence after being found guilty for shooting a woman in Fruitvale last year leaving her with what doctors called "a breath away from losing her life." Derek Michael Brock was found guilty of multiple felonies, including two counts of attempted second degree murder and 2 counts of menacing with a deadly weapon.
Brock shot Sheri Brewer while she was driving away from a home in the 600 block of Cottage Meadows Court. Her campanion, Charles Brandon, was also in the vehicle when the shootings happened. He was not injured. The shooting left Brewer permanently disabled.
Brock will be sentenced on November 18th. He could be sentenced to multiple consecutive terms of 5 to 16 years in prison if a judge imposes the maximum sentence.
