Aspen (AP) District Attorney Colleen Truden says she hasn't decided whether to contest the validity of a recall petition against her. Thursday, the Secretary of State's office said opponents had collected enough signatures to trigger a recall, election but Truden has until October 14th to contest that finding.
She's evaluating all her options and says she has talked with Steve Gessler, a Denver lawyer who's an elections expert. Former Colorado Congressman Scott McInnis says the attacks on Truden, a Republican, were started by prosecutors loyal to former D.A. Mac Myers, a Democrat, who was term–limited.
The petition accuses her of dishonesty, mismanagement, wasting tax dollars and failing to prosecute cases.
