Blowing Snow Advisory In Three Eastern Counties

Denver (AP) Wintry weather is still causing trouble for motorists headed toward Kansas and points east. A blowing snow advisory remains in effect in Yuma, Kit Carson and Cheyenne Counties in the far eastern part of the state.

Snow is supposed to taper off this evening but the National Weather Service says strong winds are expected to keep blowing the existing snow around, reducing visibility.

The powerful storm that moved into the plains left six–foot
snowdrifts in eastern Colorado and western Kansas and was blamed for a crash involving about 25 cars near the town of Vona.

Eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 are closed for nearly 350
miles, from Denver to Russell, Kansas and westbound I–70 is open just between Burlington and Denver.

The full list of road closures is as follows:

westbound Interstate 70: Kansas to Burlington;
eastbound Interstate 70: Denver E–470 to the Kansas line;
U.S. Hig1hway 6: Holyoke to the Nebraska line;
U.S. Highway 36: Cope to the Kansas line;
Colorado Highway 116: U.S. Highways 287/385 to Kansas line;
