Wednesday night marked the end of an era in Western Colorado broadcasting when 11 News Colorado News Anchor Rick Thurtle ended his many years with KKCO-TV. His last broadcast was at 10:00 p.m.
Thurtle has become a fixture in the Grand Valley community with both his work as the main anchor on the number one newscast on the Western Slope and in the community. "When I started doing this more than 20 years ago my goal was to live all over the country and I have done that," said Thurtle.
"Now the Grand Valley is our home and my wife and I have no plans of leaving here. It is time now to pursue other goals and we look forward to the challenge," he adds.
Thurtle has been hired as a Broker Associate for Century 21 Homestead Realty on Horizon Drive in Grand Junction. He has been working there since October after passing the Colorado state real exam in September.
