Deputies Involved in Shootout with Attempted Murder Suspect

Two men suspected of an attempted murder in the desert a week ago are believed to be involved in a shootout with Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies. The suspects were allegedly driving a silver KIA. The back window of the suspect's was shot out and at least one bullet hole was in the car trunk lid. Officers returned fire after the suspects fired at Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies while in pursuit of the KIA. Up to three shots were fired at a marked patrol car.
Officials believe that the fugitive suspected of attempted murder a few weeks ago was the one who shot at Deputies. The Grand Junction Police Department, Mesa County Sheriff's officials, Swat Teams, K-9 units and Fruita Police officers surrounded an area blocking off several streets north of Downtown Grand Junction near 6th Street and Gunnison Avenue Thursday night. Officials went door to door looking for the suspects. No one was injured in the incident.
