DENVER-The previously unbeaten Grand Junction Tigers (13-0) were handed their first loss of the season Saturday at Denver's Invesco Field at Mile High. The Tigers faced a fellow unbeaten team, the Thunderridge Grizzlies, in the 4A State Championship.
The Grizzlies scored on their opening drive and continued to dominate offensively throughout the first half, taking a 35-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Tigers were able to produce two quick touchdowns in the second half, on runs from Kris Means and Jake Simonton, but the five touchdown deficit was too much to overcome. Thunderridge went on to win a second-straight 4A State Title with the 51-21 victory over Grand Junction.
