Tip Leads To False Alarm On Wanted Men

Acting on a tip, law enforcement from two agencies surrounded a Grand Junction motel Monday morning, but most-wanted criminals Sam Lincoln and Charles Pruitt were not there.

Just before 5:00 a.m., Horizon Drive was closed to traffic and the Motel 6 on Horizon Drive was evacuated so Grand Junction police officers and Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies could surround the area.

Snipers positioned themselves on a nearby building to cover SWAT team members as they gained entry to a room in the building. Four people were briefly detained in the operation but they were questioned and released.

Sam Lincoln and Charles Pruitt are the most-wanted criminals in the Grand Valley following a shootout with Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies last Thursday night. No-one was injured in the incident.

The two men are well-known in the methamphetamine underground and are wanted in connection with the shooting of James Finnegan two weeks ago, who continues his recovery at an unknown location.

Lincoln and Pruitt are considered armed and extremely dangerous and should not be approached if spotted.
