December 9th has been declared Dalton Trumbo Day in celebration of his 100th birthday.
Dalton Trumbo was a successful writer who was born in Montrose and lived in Grand Junction for the early part of his life. He wrote a controversial book titled Eclipse, which takes place in Grand Junction during the 1920's and 1930's.
He also became a successful screen writer and is credited with writing Spartacus. The library is holding a fundraiser by reprinting his rare book Eclipse. It will be on sale at area libraries and at the Museum of the West. It will also be available for purchase starting on December 10th.
