The proposed Whitewater Park in Palisade has taken another step forward, with a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado.
The $175,000 grant will allow basic construction of the park which is scheduled to open next year, including the building of recreational infrastructure and a fence between the park and nearby railroad tracks.
Whitewater funding director Pete Atkinson says the grant approval has been a long time coming, and since 1994, projects throughout Mesa County have received more than $18 million in Great Outdoors Colorado grant funding.
