State Representative Josh Penry, R-Grand Junction will serve on a newly formed education task force over the next year. Tuesday Governor Bill Owens appointed Penry to the Colorado Education Alignment Council.
The goal of the council is to establish a set of expectations for high school graduates, then determine whether high school standards and higher education admission guidelines are in line with those expectations.
Other members of the council include college presidents, teachers, and business leaders.
The group will report its recommendations by next November.
