Semi-Truck Looses Trailer Near 25 Road, Traffic Stalled

A semi-truck loses its trailer on 25 Road in Grand Junction Tuesday, blocking traffic and causing environmental concerns.
The B.J. Services trailer had just been picked up from the shop when it uncoupled from the semi and skid along the pavement rupturing two diesel tanks on the side.

Traffic in the southbound lane was closed for more than an hour
and the Grand Junction Fire Department responded with absorbant to soak up the estimated 150 gallons of fuel before it could get into the storm water system.

Fire Officials say approximately 40 gallons of diesel seaped into the storm drains, however quick response, as well as weather conditions have calmed any immediate environmental dangers.

Crews were applying absorbant at pipes along the Colorado river
to prevent the fuel from entering the waterway.
