A powerful earthquake struck southern Asia Saturday morning killing thousands across a wide area that includes Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. The worst damage was in Pakistan where officials are saying 16–hundred are confirmed dead in one province including 250 girls crushed when their school collapsed, and 200 soldiers on duty in Kashmir. The earthquake measured seven–point-six. and was centered about 60 miles northeast of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.
