Embattled D.A. Won't Challenge Recall Petitions, Officials Say

Denver (AP) The Colorado Secretary of State's Office says
District Attorney Colleen Truden won't challenge a petition seeking a recall election of her. The petition accuses Truden, D.A. for Garfield, Pitkin and Rio Blanco counties of dishonesty, mismanagement, wasting taxpayer dollars and failing to prosecute cases, among other transgressions.

Truden had denied the allegations.

Governor Owens will set a date for the recall election between November 14th and December 13th unless Truden changes her mind and files a challenge before the Friday deadline.
