The first phase of consruction on Mesa County's first regional park is 99 percent complete. Wednesday afternoon the public gathered with elected officials to celebrate the progress at the Long Family Memorial Park.
Crews have been busy adding sidewalks, trails, lighting and constructing a pond and much more. This is only the first of four phases.
County Commissioner Janet Rowland says this park is especially exciting because it gives residents on the east end of the valley a park of their own.
In addition, Horizon–Sunrise Rotary Club donated $1,260 to Mesa County for the purchase of an entrance plaque at the park.
